What are the basic qualifications?

The basic qualifications to be a Corrections Officer include:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent (GED)
  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Background check required
  • Typing skills including 20 words per minute (WPM) with basic knowledge of keyboard and mouse
  • Must pass pre-employment physical agility test (view the following candidate charts) and written exam
