1. What do Election Officials do?

Election Officials are responsible for administering election procedures in each polling place. Their duties include:

• Open and close the polls
• Set up voting equipment
• Register and sign-in voters
• Record vote totals

2. Who is eligible to be an Election Official?

To be an Election Official, you must:

• Be a registered voter
• Be able to read, write and speak English
• Attend a training class

3. What is the time commitment?

Election Officials work from approximately 6:30 am to 9 pm.

4. Are Election Officials paid?

Yes. Election Officials are compensated.

5. Are Election Officials guaranteed time off from work?

Most employers are willing to work out arrangements.

6. What kind of training do Election Officials receive?

Classes are held throughout the county for Election Officials. For more information on training specifics, visit the Election Officials page to view some training materials.

7. How can I become an Election Official?

Judge of Elections and Inspectors of Election are elected offices, however, there are also appointed positions in each polling place. Some polls are adequately staffed, but there are some polling places that are always in need of workers. Please complete and submit our Election Official Volunteer Form to apply to volunteer your time.
