1. What is my inmate's charges and sentence?

You will need to obtain that information from the inmate or his or her attorney.

2. I need to drop off my inmate's medication. How do I do that?

Special medication requests must be submitted by the inmate to Dispensary staff.

3. Why am I not on the visitation list? Who is on the visitation list? What are the visiting hours?

This information needs to be obtained from the inmate.

4. When is my inmate getting released?

Various factors including probation and parole impact release dates. You will need to obtain this information from the inmate themselves. 

5. My inmate has my personal property, what do I need to do to retrieve it?

The inmate will need to authorize release of their personal property. 

6. I am an ex-inmate myself. Can I visit?

You must write a letter to the Deputy Superintendent, Kelly Reed at 1730 S. Easton Rd Doylestown PA 18901 asking for permission. Included, you need to write the name of who you would like to see, your last incarceration dates, and if you are on any supervision. You will receive a letter back with the result of the request.

7. How do I put money on my inmates account? How will they know they received the money?

In order for them to verify that the money has been received the inmate can check the kiosk.

8. When I was released, I had money on my books. How do I get that money back?

Upon release you will be asked to provide a forwarding address. That money can be sent to you via mail to that address. If you did not provide the address please contact the business office and provide your current mailing address. 

9. I am turning myself in to serve a sentence. What can I bring into the jail?

Nothing from the outside will be permitted in. If you have cash on your person, that money will be added to your personal funds to use within the Bucks County Corrections Facility. 

10. Will the inmate be considered for work release?

This is based on a case by case bases. There are criteria that must be met before the inmate is evaluated for the program. 

11. How can I order commissary for my inmate? How can I add money to their tablet?

Commissary can be sent direct through the company.

Cash can can be added to the kiosk in the lobby located in both the BCCF and the MCCC.

12. How can I send my inmate a book?

Books must be sent direct from the bookstore. If this is not the case, the books will be returned to the sender. 

13. How can an inmate have a document notarized?

The inmate must submit a request to Notary Services. 

14. How can I bring in an interpreter?

This request must be submitted to the Deputy Superintendent for approval. Requests of this nature can be sent to inmateservices@buckscounty.org. 

15. Why is mail I send to my inmate being returned?

The mail you are sending may not meet correction policy.  Please see the mail guidelines here.

16. How can I send clothing/shoes to my inmate?

Clothing can only be sent on two occasions. 

1. Clothing exchange for court appearances. 
2. If the inmate is located at the MCCC. 

The inmate must first request approval and make proper notification once approval is granted. 

17. Can I make donations to the Bucks County Department of Corrections?

At this time the department does not accept donations. 

18. How can I schedule a visit?

In person and video visiting information is located here. If there is someone on an administrative lock or mental health watch, please email inmateservices@buckscounty.org to schedule a visit. You must be on the inmate visitor list prior to scheduling. 

19. Does the Bucks County Department of Corrections have extended visitation for people traveling from out of town?

Both in person and video visits are limited to 30 minutes, however, multiple virtual visits may be scheduled in the same day. For more information go here.

20. How can I arrange a chaplain to visit with an inmate?

The religious leader of your choosing can email inmateservices@buckscounty.org with this request. On site chapel services are available at the inmate's request.

21. Who can I contact to get a copy of my GED?

Pennsylvania Department of Education. No copies are kept at the County level. 

22. How can I get another copy of a certificate from a program I went to while incarcerated?

There are no duplicates created of certificates. 

23. What are the restrictions on a religious medallion?

The chain cannot exceed 20 inches and the medallion must be the size of a half dollar or less. Anything not within the protocol listed on the website will be returned to sender. 

24. How much time before the visit should I check in?

Visits are on a first come, first served basis.
