Bucks County-run COVID Vaccine Clinics to Close

After delivering more than 207,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines across the county over nearly two years, Bucks County’s government-run vaccine clinics will close at the end of the week.

The clinic located in the Warwick Square shopping center in Jamison will give its final shots Friday, the last day before the county’s contract expires with Little Big Health Solutions, Inc, the vendor that has been staffing the clinics since January. Vaccination efforts wrapped last week at the county’s Neshaminy Mall clinic.

Shuttering of the clinics comes at a time of widespread availability of COVID vaccines at pharmacies and doctors’ offices, high vaccination rates, and when most people have built some immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. Supplies of the new bivalent booster are limited, but are expected to increase in the coming days and weeks.

“When our clinics first opened in 2021, COVID vaccines were rare and difficult to find, and so it fell to us to make sure we got the shots to as many people as we could,” said county Health Director Dr. David Damsker. “Today, with the vaccines and boosters available in nearly every drug store and supermarket, it’s time for the county to step back and refocus the efforts of its staff and resources where we can have greater impact.”

Vaccines will be available for the remainder of the week at the Warwick Square clinic on the following schedule:

  • Tuesday – 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday – 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Thursday – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Shots will also be given from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Upper Bucks campus of Bucks County Community College in Perkasie.

First series vaccines as well as the new bivalent booster are available at either location.

“Managing deployment of a scarce vaccine during a global pandemic is never a job we want to have to do,” Damsker added, “but I’m proud to say our Health Department, Emergency Services and General Services staff, and also our friends at Little Big Health Solutions, rose to the challenge time and time again despite extremely difficult circumstances.”
