- About Children & Youth
The formation of BCCYSSA began in 1960 with the convening of the Citizens Child Welfare Study Committee, a group of informed citizens who explored the extent of child welfare services in the county. In 1962 they completed their report and submitted recommendations to the County Commissioners. It was determined that an agency would be created to provide child welfare services in Bucks County. A Citizens Advisory Board was appointed to form an implementation plan. This resulted in the establishment, on May 1st, 1965, of The Bucks County Department of Child Welfare. The agency is known today as Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency.
