- Newtown Rail Trail
The Newtown Rail Trail is a 2.5 mile long, 12’ wide multiuse trail that connects Tamanend Park in Upper Southampton Township to the very popular Pennypack Trail in Montgomery County.
It is part of The Circuit Trails, an 800 mile bicycle network in the Delaware Valley and was a cooperative effort between Bucks County and Upper Southampton Township.
It was Bucks County’s second Rails to Trail Project and it utilizes SEPTA’s former Newtown-Fox Chase Branch. Completion of the trail has spurred new life into the formerly vacant Southampton Train Station as plans are underway to redevelop it. Design work is already underway to extend this very popular trail into the county’s Churchville Nature Center!
