Home Delivered Meals

The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging provides Home Delivered Meals to older adults through the OPTIONS Care Management Program. The program is designed to promote the general health and well-being of older individuals, it is intended to:

  • Reduce hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition of older adults;
  • Promote socialization of older individuals;
  • Promote the health and well-being of older people:
    • By assisting them in gaining access to nutrition and other disease prevention and health promotion services
    • To delay the onset of adverse health conditions resulting from poor nutritional health or sedentary behavior

Services are not intended to reach every individual in the community. Home delivered meals are for adults age 60 and older who are in greatest social and economic need. This need could be:

  • The inability to obtain food (lack of transportation or access to grocery store);
  • Inability to prepare meals due to a physical or cognitive disability;
  • Lack of financial resources for meal or absence of someone willing to prepare meals.

A Care Manager will conduct an assessment to ascertain the need for home delivered meals. The meals are provided for free to those found to be eligible.
