Inheritance Tax Return Status
Inheritance tax filers can track the status of their return through myPATH by clicking on the Track My Inheritance Tax Return link. To track the status of a return, a user will need the Decedent's Last Name, the Decedent's SSN, and know whether the decedent was a PA resident.
Submitting Payments Online for Realty Transfer Tax & Nonresident Inheritance Tax
Realty Transfer Tax and Nonresident Inheritance Taxpayers can pay their liabilities online through myPATH by clicking on Make A Payment link.
Users will need the following information when paying online:
- Letter ID
- Your bank account information
- Valid email address
Realty Transfer Tax users also need:
- Realty Transfer Tax Recording Date
- Realty Transfer Tax Control Number
Nonresident Inheritance Tax users also need:
- Decedent's Date of Death
- Inheritance Tax File Number

The Register of Wills/Clerk of the Orphans’ Court is open to the public from 8:00am until 4:15pm. Both virtual and in-person appointments are conducted. Please call 215-348-6254 or 215-348-6264 to schedule an appointment.
The office will be open extended hours until 7:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month for virtual appointments.
Appointment Considerations
- Before seeking an appointment, we ask the bar and public to seriously consider whether the specific matter at issue would be considered exigent circumstances by an objective observer
- All visitors, including members of the bar with passes allowing access to the Administration Building, are asked to check in with the security officers
